25 Fordham Students Get the Chance to Peer Behind the Regulatory Curtain

On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, twenty-five lucky college students had the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC to visit some of the nation's most important government agencies, and meet policy makers to discuss the nation's economic governance. The students, from Fordham College at Rose Hill, Fordham College Lincoln Center, and the Gabelli School of Business, visited the Treasury Department, the Office of Management and Budget, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Reserve. The tour was sponsored personally by CSFME's Executive Director, Ed Blount, who also sits on the Fordham President's Council, and is himself a Fordham alumnus.

During their visit, the Fordham students had the opportunity to meet Deputy Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin and OMB official Veronica Daigle, as well as other high level officials at the SEC and the Fed. The visits to each agency were designed to give the students a more concrete understanding of how economic and financial policy is made, and also to provide some behind the scenes insights.

Mr. Blount hopes that educational tours like Fordham's will become more regular, and invites other colleges and universities to contact him at CSFME to discuss how they too may get involved.

Fordham has posted an excellent piece on the visit to DC, including reactions from the students, at its blog, Fordham Notes.
